ShowBizzBuzz: Melanie Haynes in New Comedy Film “Antiquities” on Showtime

Who is Buzzworthy?

Actress Melanie Haynes steps in for laughs as the awkward Aunt Patty in the comedy film Antiquities heading to Showtime beginning September 1st.

The film also stars Andrew J. West (The Walking Dead), Ashley Green (Twilight), Mary Steenburgen (Last Vegas) and Michaela Watkins (The Back-up Plan).

What’s Antiquities about?

The film is described as: the story of Walt (West), a young man who moves to his father’s hometown after his death in search of learning who his father really was. After arriving, Walt decides to stay with his cumbersome but well-intentioned Aunt Patty (Haynes) and her family, and accepts a job in a local antique mall where his father worked when he was younger. Along his journey, Walt ends up not only learning about his father, but also about himself.

What’s being said about Melanie Haynes as Aunt Patty?

Director/co-creator Daniel Campbell had this to say: “Melanie brought so much charm and vulnerability to Aunt Patty. It was such a critical role in the film and she gave us exactly what we needed Aunt Patty to be. I couldn’t be happier with her performance.”

And, co-creator/actor Graham Gordy (co-creator of Cinemax series Quarry, Rectify) said: “Melanie was tremendous as Aunt Patty. As an actress, she has all the gears, from the saccharine sweetness down to the pained regret of that character. I can’t imagine anyone more perfect for it.”
